visiting the mahatma ghandi's shrine in new delhi

i visited the place where my hero--the mahatma ghandi--was cremated in new delhi, india. like him, i dream to be an influence for social revolution without resorting to violence.

this was in a park near the parliament of india in new delhi. i wonder what kind of post-colonial country the philippines would be if we were conquered by the british instead of the spaniards? would that be a lesser evil? is india better off?

learning from a hindu priest

hinduism is a very interesting religion and philosophy. in this temple, i met with a hindu priest to learn from him about brahma--the supreme god in the hindu pantheon. he invited me to sit down in lotus position with him. then he told me to keep quiet. he meditated for 40 minutes. afterwards, he told me: "you want to know more about god? be still, and know that god is god."

feeling insecure with a bodyguard

i'm not used to having an armed bodyguard. but my hosts in southern india insists that i should have this guy for my security. i didn't feel secure at all. it was a very awkward train ride from chennai to hyderabad.
