hospitable people in uzbekistan


these children in samharkan, an ancient city in uzbekistan, are so hospitable. their parents and their whole extended family offered their best to me and my team in a very sacrificial way. they're just like our people in rural philippines.

moving around in a police state


these soviet-trained policemen saw to it that i was safe during my visit to the city of tashkent, the capital of uzbekistan. this society is so used to being under police state. most of the people often look down; there's so much fear in their eyes. this must be the result of soviet totalitarianism.
