glorietta: a facade of a so-called "good life"

for the majority of our people, working abroad is a matter of survival. for many, it is a means to achieve the so-called good life. the good life means achieving the great american dream as projected and imposed by the process of globalization. most of us want western-style houses, cars, the latest cellular phones, flat-screen tv, the state-of-the-art computer, etc. for these, many families are separated to find jobs abroad; unfortunately, for many, the family soon disintegrates. for the more fortunate ones who can finance this lifestyle through their local incomes, there's not much time to enjoy these goods because they have to work longer time to pay all the bills. is this really the good life that we would sacrifice the lives of our loved-ones for?
